Doggy Branding
May 4, 2012
I recently received this tweet from a designer friend of mine - Have you ever seen a brand identity based on a dog? http://t.co/2lncn2Hq – Originally a tweet from Design Week back in March. Well the answer is yes, and it was mine from a few years back!
This is some of the stationery from my old company Mill Yard Studios Ltd. Nellie was the star, and although she hated having a camera pointed at her, she begrudgingly performed……. with a little temptation ( a biscuit ). She’s no longer with us but will always be fondly remembered.
A Royal appointment
May 2, 2012
It was great to hear that Fudges – purveyor and maker of fine biscuits – received a ‘royal appointment’ yesterday. I’m hoping that HRH liked the lovely photography I did for their packaging!
Steel Coil
April 27, 2012
I love the texture created by this steel coil – one of the products I was asked to shoot for Tata Steel on site at their Scunthorpe steel works. Normally I would shoot samples at the studio, but this stuff was way too heavy to move so we set up a mini studio on site and spent 2 days shooting a range of rail, rod, plate and coil product.

The Allotment
February 14, 2012
The last of the snow this week revealed winter greens growing on an allotment close to home. I’m always drawn by the mundane or what most of us may not even notice. Here clumps and rows of vegetables are isolated by the snow. The minimal colour palette of green against white help emphasise that. These are six of my favourite shots.

Bubbles
November 14, 2011
Quite a technical challenge of shooting bubbles against different coloured backgrounds. These were used on an exhibition stand for Parker to highlight their product and services range for the medical sector. Reproduced at a metre+ I chose to shoot them using Linhof/Schneider/PhaseOne so as to retain the beautiful detail in the surface.
Retro
September 16, 2011
Found tucked away in the plan chest was this spread from a Micromega hi-fi brochure I did way back in the 90′s/early 00′s. Shot on 10×8 transparency if I remember and before the days of retouching. A bit dated, but I still like the shots – not sure about the brush stroke effect though.
